Day 323Hi All,
I am still around, just been so incredibly busy. It is amazing how having children around really fills up any extra seconds you had left over! lol
Thankyou all for your wonderfully supportive comments and I really hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving with their family and friends.
Today's shot was one I got as I was just walking about. I noticed the contrast between the ripples on the water and the course rock and thought it would make a cool photograph. I love the color of the water also.
I hope everyone is doing well, take care everyone..talk soon :)
Day 322Hi all, I basically decided to finish this challenge a little differently. As I was doing more harm to my enjoyment of photography by posting each day, I decided I would post and finish the 365 days when I am inspired to do so, as well as when I have good photos to post. I will therefore take longer with the photos I work on to post on the blog and hopefully we will see much better photos as a result. So now, I am basically calling this my 365 days challenge rather than a photo a day challenge as I think quality is certainly more important than quantity. I will get through the 365 days though! I am determined to finish what I started, even if it is not quite HOW I thought I would do it.
Today I am posting one of the "fun" shots I took on Homecoming night. It is amazing, two teenage girls, dressed up to the nines, put on the music and watch the interesting photos unfold LOL. These girls were having so much fun dancing about to the music and trying all different poses. This is just one of the many photos I have that really show their personality. I am so glad they got to enjoy it, there is nothing worse than if there is no atmosphere when taking a photo of people as it nearly always comes out in the shot. The days are getting colder here, so time for more portraits I think, although some icy water shots might be appropriate too soon LOL. Until next time all.... Day 321Thankyou all for your comments, I am so pleased you liked that shot. The shot I am posting today is going to be used for a modelling portfolio. Feedback would be most welcome on this one. Day 320Hi All,
Liz, I could not get over the amount of people that go apple picking and pumpkin picking. It sure was hard to get shots without a crowd of people in them. hehe It is always a fun challenge though and it's such a great tradition. Glad you liked the pumkins girl :)
Nora, I have thought of you often lately. How is it all going for you? I will be sure to check out the link you left as soon as possible. Thankyou for that!
Dave, Thanks so much for stopping by! I didn't even realize my blog was still listed on Best of MSN. I am so pleased you enjoyed the photos!
Today's shot is of Sarah and her friend. It is their homecoming dance tonight and I just had to get some shots of the girls. (and yes, I am now officially broke after dresses, hairdressing and shoes!) I just LOVE this shot! This is the kind of shot that gives me enthusiasm to keep going. Now I just have to wait for them to get home to show them! :P
Have a great night all - until next time... Day 319Well, I am pleased to say I am feeling slightly better as far as my commitment to my photography is concerned. It is amazing what a day out with the family can do for you! Yesterday, we went apple picking and of course there were pumpkins galore there as well, so I captured today's shot to celebrate the season! It was so nice to get out of the house with the camera again! Hopefully, this new burst of energy will keep me going for a bit ;)
Thankyou to Hope, Barb, Liz and Nora for your messages of support. All your comments do help me to get back behind the lens, so today's photo is dedicated to all of you. Thanks for your ongoing friendship girls!
Take Care..until next time.. Day 316Hi Everyone, Thankyou so much for your comments, they do mean a lot to me. I have really been struggling lately with my passion for photography..I simply think with all the stresses lately, I have just burnt myself out. That being said, I am going to keep posting shots until have finished my one year commitment, even though it may not be everyday as I was doing in the past. I feel like I am the long distance runner who is running out off puff ten feet from the finishing line LOL.
I am posting this shot of Aaron today, as it seems to epitomize what I see him looking like lately. He is a real two year old boy with real two year old tantrums..and this shot was taken during one of his standoffs LOL.
Until next time...take care...and thankyou for all your support :) Day 315Liz, thanks for your comment. Honestly hon..it is amazing what photoshop can do for ones complexion LOL Pova, you are so sweet..and I do love your explanation of why you liked this one better..made me go back and take another look at it. :)
Today's shot is of Michel and Chelsea. I havent had a father daughter one in a while, so while they were sitting there zoned out on the tv together..I quickly grabbed this shot. Nothing fancy done in photoshop as I wanted one I could print out well with lots of clarity. I think it came out pretty well...and I like that it shows some of Chelseas new curls :)
Until tomorrow.... Day 314Hi all,
Thanks Mt and Liz for your comments - It is so great to be back!
Todays photo is another one I took while I attempted my first self portrait. I don't like it as much as I did the other one because it looks like I am 20 pounds heavier in this one (and lets face it..who needs 20 pounds!). It didn't really help that I had only a few seconds to get into position...so my position was a rather crunched up uncomfortable one! lol I do like how it shows the eyes though. When I look at portraits I love to gaze into the eyes of the subject - I am a big believer in eyes being the key to the soul of a person..and well hopefully mine are not too bloodshot from working on photographs too much! hehe
Until tomorrow all... Day 313Barbs and Nooner, thankyou both so much for your comments. *hugs* to you both...I too am so glad I met both of you and glad to be back to enjoy my blog buddies!
Today's shot is of my brother-in-law. I found this shot in my many hundreds of files and it had me wondering what he was thinking at the time. I can never remember what is happening outside of the shot, for the most part, so I often find myself wondering what thoughts are going through the mind of the person I shot. I thought about doing a dragonizer effect on this one but thought he may not enjoy me turning his shot into one with definate wrinkle lines and dark moods..so I did the safe option and did a soft focus. I really do feel the need to dragonize something soon though..be warned! lol Day 312Firstly, before I start today, I wish to thank everyone for their words of support while my mum was in the hospital. I am pleased to say she has now returned home and is doing much better. I know that next time she visits she will be overwhelmed by all the well wishes sent to her via this blog. Thanks also for all the comments directed to me...I have missed my blog and my friends greatly and it is great to be back :)
Secondly, I will be doing what I can to catch up on all the days I missed recently. I will submit one photo each day as I have in the past but I will also add a second photo on some days to make up for those missed.
This photo is a long time coming. I have been asked several times for a current photo of me (yes Nooner...I am posting a REAL one of me this time LOL). This was quite difficult to get because my camera only does a 10 second self timer and with the huge lens I was using, the camera had to be placed quite a distance from where I had to sit. Yes, if you could have been a fly on the wall..you would have had a great laugh seeing me try and look natural after bolting for the spot I had to sit in LOL.
Until tomorrow... updateJust wanted to let everyone know..that I have fallen behind this week on my photography due to my mother being in hospital back in Australia and visitors here for the week. Mum..please get better soon! I love you! Please note, that I will catch up on missed days as soon as possible. Have missed you all ! Day 310Hi all,
NORA!!!...havent seen you in so long girl. So glad you left a comment...hope all is going well with you and glad you enjoyed the photos. Tell your son to enjoy the caterpillars ...its pretty cool how these critters can turn into something entirely different and that just fascinates kids. (and a lot of us adults)
Today's entry has a bit of a funny story attached. (well not for Aaron) It seems the monkeys are asking him for advice lately because whenever I turn around he is climbing onto or up whatever he can scale. Well this time, he met his match. The scenario goes: 1) bathroom calls 2) I answer it 3) Aaron takes this opportunity to stand up on the walker tray and use it to get him access to the bannister (which was in easy reach of the bottom of a plant we had hanging on the other side). 4) Big Bang 5) race out to find Aaron on the ground and my planter spread from one end of the room to the other 6) give Aaron hug and kiss his head "better" 7) clean up the mess.
It would seem that the walker did not want to stay put as Aaron used it to lean over the bannister. It rolled back, sending him with it..and of course he had the plant in his hand at the time. Little did I know when I kissed his head better though, that he must have bumped his eye on the bannister. Less than ten minutes later..his eye started getting all red and swollen...so out comes the frozen vegetables and well..we discovered that Aaron has finally gotten his first black eye! (both my husband and I are suprised it took this long!) I took this photograph when his eye started swelling but it was before it started bruising. (trust me..this photo is good..the next morning he looked like he had done ten rounds with rocky!) We have been calling him bruiser ever since :)
The sad thing is...Chelsea is now climbing on top of the furniture and the heat registers. LOL...we are so screwed! :) Day 309Will type more tomorrow as I just got back from a very long drive to go and attend a wake for a friend who passed away. I am exhausted in much need of a pillow :) Nite all ! Day 308Hi all,
I took this photo earlier today and as soon as I viewed it I knew I loved it. My kids all have the most gorgeous long eyelashes and in this shot, I zoomed in and focussed on the lashes and left the rest to blur. I love the focus and this type of shot, really makes the eyelashes stand out even more.
Take Care all, Talk soon.. Day 307Hi all,
Tonight it is time to add some more photos of the kids for the grandparents back in Australia! Aaron is growing so quickly, he is a real little boy now. (definately no baby anymore!...far too independent!) Day 306Thanks MT and Liz for your comments. I am glad you both liked the lantern shot.
Today's shot was just one of those spontaneous shots that was taken while the family were just goofing around. We had been outside teaching Aaron to catch a football (according to his dad..your never too young to learn! lol). This particular shot I liked because it is a very rare occasion when teenagers let their guard down enough to really enjoy themselves. (especially with family! :-O) Have a great night all ! Day 305Hi all!
I was out in the garden today (was a lovely day here). I took this photograph of a solar lantern that we have in the garden...I got this little beauty off Ebay..and I just love it. I only wish I could find more of them so I could put them in other places around the garden. I am not the only one that loves it either. The birds in the backyard take great pride in their aim as they poop on it. (hence the white spots on it! lol)
Have a great night all ! Day 304Hi all!
Thanks for your comment Liz! I loved the cream color in the middle of the rose too!
Today's shot was as a result of feeling a black and white withdrawal LOL. I love doing black and whites but you really need the right subject. B & W gives a very cold effect which I thought was perfect for a shot of an old childrens piano. I could see this being done in sepia as well.
Have a great one all.. Day 303Hi all,
Posting late tonight...so will try and keep it brief.
I love today's shot. It is almost like it is a painting rather than a photograph. My roses are all blooming, so have been wanting to get some more rose shots. By the time I get around to shooting them though, the blooms are either dying or they have only just started to come out. At last, the timing was spot on. I hope you like it.
Have a great night all. day 302Hi all,
Thanks for your comment BrownEyedCat. I think the olives type of shot would make a wonderful kitchen project. I could see that shot in a nice natural toned kitchen. As for SecondLife, it is a whole lot of fun. I forgot to give the website address last night..but it is pretty easy anyway...
www.secondlife.com - anyone wanting to find out more info about it can go there and it has all the info. I said last night that it was a game..and yes, I guess it is but it more like a Virtual Reality Environment than a game. (there is no winners and losers..ok..there are a some losers in there! LOL)
Todays shot was a photo I took a long time ago but I wanted to see what difference using some software called Gem airbrush (I wanna say it is put out by Kodak..but not sure). I love that piece of software and highly recommend it. I usually use it on portraits, so I wanted to see how it would be on floral shots. I actually liked the effect even though the obvious one flower that is blurred really did put me off on this shot. (that was blurred before the GEM though!)
Have a great night all ! Day 301Hi all!
Ram, thanks for your comment..it is so great to be on the homewood stretch :)
Today, I am previewing a different type of photography. I was introduced to a virtual reality game called Second Life. In this game, people create their own avatar and do everything you can do in real life. Yes, I have been to nightclubs, swimming in pools, shopping - I even have a job in Second Life! LOL..I know that sounds really strange but it is also pretty cool. Once I got the hang of walking around, it was amazing how much fun it was. Even though it is a game, people can make serious $$$ simply from trading in there. In fact there are companies like Baby Phat and Reebok selling clothing for Avatars. (yep, cant excape commercialism..even in your second life! lol)
I am also working on setting up a photography store in there, where I take photos of Avatars for their profiles and for artwork for their walls of their home. (their VIRTUAL home..which they spend a fortune on). People buy and sell real estate in Second Life, just as they would in real life. (may be of interest to you noonie :) ) Speaking of Nooner...LOL (don't you love my segway!)..You challenged me to put up a photo of myself...so here ...I have done it :) In Second Life, I took this photo of myself...aren't I a stunner!!!! lol Now Nooner, you can't say I back down from a challenge! hehehehe
Day 300Hi all!
300 DAYS!!!! whoo hooo!
ok, I have settled down again now ;)
Today's shot was a bit of a failed attempt at a macro using a lens that really wasn't suited to macros BUT I actually like the shot. There is something very photographic about Olives with their contrasting colors. Ok, so they ARE just olives after all, so don't get too excited over it...but I love to experiment with shots like this from time to time...it teaches me to see beauty and interest in even the most mundane things :)
Have a fabulous night all !
Day 299Thanks so much for your comments Chris and Liz..glad you both liked the photograph :)
Today's shot was taken down by the beach. I was just wandering along and a little boy was running toward his parents. (out of shot) I just love shots that capture the energy of children..and I think this is one of them.
Have a great night all ! Day 298Hi all,
Thanks for the comment RAM. I can't remember if I used a flash with that one, I know that it was taken in the shade, so perhaps I did. (I take so many shots now days that I forget lol) I have never seen anything like it before either..you can imagine our initial reaction when we saw it..it was like.."what the?" lol
Wow,I just realized I am only 2 days away from the 300 days milestone. Yeah I know, bells and whistles, balloons and cake are in order LOL...I will just settle for knowing that I have commited for 300 days so far. Thinking about it reminds me of why I started this venture. I started this adventure to show my daughter that one has to commit to something if they really want to improve and get ahead in life. I think she is "secretly" proud of her mum lol. (Of course, no teen would ever admit to that).
I thought it had been a while since I did a photo of sarah, so I found this one in my archives of photos to work on. Not the best when it comes to Sarah shots but I loved the eyes in this one. (don't you ever wish, when you had a shot that there was one thing you could change..in this shot, it would be the smile..I love it when she smiles...teeth flashing and all that..this one is a bit so-so for me - Of course, no mum would ever admit to that...at least not to the teen in question! lol
Well, have a great night all! |
